Rajasthan famously known as the Land of
the “Maharajas” and “Princes” possesses a rich history dating back to
royalty with symbolic forts and palaces. This fascinating region is
endowed with an unmatched natural beauty and a mixture of cultural
diversity. The state of Rajasthan is a tourist’s paradise nestled in the
northwestern part of India. Each year millions of visitors are drawn to
the famous towns of Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Ajmer and Jaisalmer to
experience and travel down the corridors of history. The splendid
panoramic capital city of Jaipur called “Pink City” was founded by
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II. It offers visitors a exhausting list of
attractions. The main attractions are Rambagh Palace ,the impressive
building of Hawa Mahal or “Palace of Winds” with ornately carved
windows, Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar the astronomical
observatory, Jaigarh Fort, Nahargarh Fort, Jal Mahal, Birla Temple and
places of great historical importance. Shopping is undoubtedly an
attraction in itself as choices and variety for things to shop in Jaipur
is immeasurable.The “city of lakes”, Udaipur famous as a tourist
destination with its three major lakes, Pichhola, Fatehsagar and
Udaisagar presents a mesmerizing view to the outsiders. Udaipur was
founded by Maharajah Jai Singh in 16th century is a popular picnic
destination as well among the many locales. It is one of the most
beautiful and romantic cities in Rajasthan. The largest fort in India
Chittorgarh Fort and City Palace are some of the well-known symbols of
this great city’s culture. There is no end to the breath-taking sites
visitors can see in Jaisalmer known as the “Golden City” of India. There
are many exotic places-of-interest in Jaisalmer. Of those the most
popular is the Fort that was built in 1156 AD by the Rajput ruler Rawal
Jaisal, thirty meters over the city of Jaisalmer. It is one of the
largest forts in the world which attracts a lot of people from all over
the globe. As one of the most populous city of Rajasthan, Ajmer has a
vibrant cultural life crowded with a legacy of a rich cultural past.
Ajmer was founded by Ajaipa Chauhan in the seventh century. The
“Invincible Hill Fort” or “Ajaimeur” was built by Chauhan. Ajmer is an
important pilgrimage destination.
